What is Futsal?

Originating in Brazil, Futsal is a fun, fast-paced version of soccer played on a smaller, hard surfaced court (basketball court or similar). Teams consist of 5 players on the field at any one time (4 and a goalie) and a heavier size 4 ball is used. The ball is heavier in order to reduce the height the ball bounces. Futsal is recognised as a great way to develop soccer skills as smaller team sizes allow players to spend much more time on the ball.

What are the benefits of playing Futsal?

Futsal is a great way to keep fit whilst improving your soccer skills. Starting a team can also be a great way to keep in touch with friends in a fun environment. Additionally, this can all be done without the normal club commitments that an outdoor soccer team requires.

How long does each season run for?

Futsal seasons usually run for 14 weeks, plus 1 week of finals.

Are there any differences between Indoor Soccer and Futsal?

There are a number of differences between Futsal and Indoor Soccer. While both games are played on a hard court surface, Futsal has no surrounding walls or nets (ie. the ball can go out of play). A Futsal ball is also smaller and heavier than an Indoor Soccer ball and FIFA rules allow for a much free flowing game of soccer with Futsal.

Are there any requirements when it comes to play finals?

In order to be eligible to play in finals matches, a player must have competed in at least five games during the course of the regular 14 week season. This number can very depending on the length of the season.

I have never played Futsal before, is previous experience required?

No, previous experience is not required. We offer both competitive and social competitions to cater for all intensity levels. So whether you’ve played the game for years, or have never kicked a Futsal or soccer ball before, we will put you in a league where you feel comfortable.

Are games held on public holidays?

What are the match times? Can we request times to suit?

Matches start no earlier than 6:00pm and finish no later that 10:30pm for senior compeitions. Sundays have earlier set times. Juniors is held after school, between 4:30pm and 6:30pm. Whilst we do ask teams for their preferences in regards to playing early or late games, we cannot guarantee that every game will be in your preferred timeslot. We do work hard to ensure all teams have an equal amount of early and later matches. We will do our best to schedule your games within your preferred time.

Can I register as an individual (or a couple)?

This is not a problem, submit your details and we'll do our very best to match you up with a suitable team.

What do I do if my team has to forfeit a game?

Do players have to wear shin pads?

While players do play at their own risk, we do recommend shin pads be worn on the court for safety

What equipment is required to play Futsal?

Matching team uniform (colour only needs to match), runners or Futsal shoes and shin pads (recommended)

Do we need to wear matching shirts?

Teams do need to wear matching shirts and shorts, while the goalie should wear a different colour or wear a bib.
